Hi. I’m Julianna - the face
behind Mag ‘n Pea Bakery.

This is truly what I enjoy - putting love and care into the little details to make each order special.

Bringing a smile to those I serve is the icing on the cake.

How Mag ‘n’ Pea Came to Be

I had always wanted to try my hand at baking and despite not having much experience in it - I had this confidence that my years of watching every baking show had been enough to earn me culinary expertise. So when I heard my friend say she needed to make her niece a birthday cake, I thought this was my chance!

Though never having asked me to help, with time my friend settled into the idea and soon I was in my kitchen carving a dog out of cake. Despite the tears, challenges and sleepless nights, I didn’t want it to end. I had re-discovered the joy I’d experienced as a little girl making mud pies in my back yard.

Looking for any occasion to bake, a dear friend put me in touch with a local non-profit who provides home-made baked goods for under served children and young adults in our community. For every request I would do a test run. Every flopped cake, cookie or cupcake became another opportunity to learn and improve. In January of 2020, I obtained my cottage license and opened Mag ‘n’ Pea Bakery.

A tribute to
Maggie and SnowPea

Simply said, Maggie and SnowPea were our girls and nothing less than children to us. They were sweet and tender, playful and silly and taught us a lot about love, patience and ourselves. My husband, Mike, and I we were blessed to have them in our lives for more than 11 years. Our girls hold a very dear place in our hearts.

Volunteer Work

I started volunteering for the Sacramento chapter of Cake4Kids in June of 2019 and soon after began volunteering for Icing Smiles. I never realized that I would get so much joy from doing something special for someone I didn’t know or whom I would never meet. I take each request as if it’s for my own child - putting love and care into every detail. I’m grateful for both nonprofits as the work I do for them has helped bring out a part of me that was always there but that I hadn’t tapped into and which ultimately lead to Mag ‘n’ Pea Bakery.
